In the framework of this project we provide legal and social support to refugees from Central Asia. This is ongoing activity started in 2006.
1.Legal suport includes work with applicants at all statges of national refugee procedure. Representation of clients interests at the state bodies of Ukraine, including cases of unlawful arrests and detention due to extradition threats.
2.Social support – consulting applicants on different issues of everyday life in Ukraine, including advices on personal safety.
Project goals:
1.Legal support for refugees. To run the “Help Center” for refugees in Ukraine and provide them with legal and social assistance at all stages of the procedure and everyday life in Ukraine (initial social orientation, advice, emergency assistance).
2.Prevention of extraditions of refugees and asylum seekers (refoulement) to the countries of origin.
3.Monitoring of refugees’ rights violations, legislative initiatives and changes.
4.Cooperation and coordination with other NGOs active in the field in order to protect refugees in Ukraine.
5.Information and consultations to international institutions concerning the situation of refugees. Assertion of concrete decisions which could improve the situation of refugees.
6.Advocacy – to keep active public discussion around refugees’ situation and problems, shape public opinion and bring positive changes into the situation.
7.Education of different target groups in this field – refugees and asylum seekers, police, journalists, etc.
